Patsy Mink was a woman of Japanese descent born in Hawaii when it was still a territory of the United States. Her original goal was to be a doctor, but when she was told women could not be doctors, she went to law school in order to change that. Patsy ended up running for Congress when Hawaii became a state and was the first woman of color to win a seat in the House of Reps. Patsy is most known for a bill that she co-authored called Title IX.
